The ACI Greater Michigan Chapter, and our meeting sponsor, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE), invite you to join us Tuesday, September 10, 2019 for a presentation on the use of concrete petrography in the analysis and design phases of repair, restoration, historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects. Following a brief introduction to concrete petrography, our speaker, Karla Salahshour (Kruse) will discuss petrography uses in these fields and review various case studies. The meeting will then be opened up for general discussion.
Speaker: Karla Salahshour has specialized in the evaluation and characterization of historic and modern building materials. Her materials laboratory work focuses on petrographic examination of concrete, mortars, grouts, stucco, plaster, natural stone, manufactured stone, brick, and other construction materials. She also conducts field evaluations, such as evaluating distress in various types of concrete, terrazzo, coating systems, terra cotta facades, EIFS and stucco systems .Karla is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT), American Concrete Institute (ACI), the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), and the Society for Concrete Petrographers (SCP). She is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio.
